Foster Application
Not only do you get the best kind of companionship, but you are also helping out the overpopulated rescues and shelters.”

Meant 2B Loved is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, including fosters. We need your help to care for the many animals in need in our communities.
Whether you’re fostering tiny kittens or large dogs, many of these animals require your love and support to have the best chance of finding an adopter. When you foster, you help give them the space, experiences and resources they need when going to a new home!
Why foster homes?
Fostering animals in a home greatly reduces their stress levels and helps M2BL get to know the animal better. We are then able to tell prospective adopters about the animal’s personality and what qualities make them a great fit in their forever home. We would love to rescue every animal in need, but unfortunately we are limited by the number of volunteer foster homes we have.
Fostering can be as simple as designating a spare room or office in your home for a cat in need!
“We would definitely recommend fostering to anyone thinking about it! M2BL is an amazing organization who cares so much about the animals they take into their care. Fostering is an amazing way to do a bit of a test run with an animal and see if they are the right fit for you and/or your family.Fostering is also a great way to volunteer your time and offer a loving, caring home to an animal in need. We 100% say give it a try!”

Responsibilities
Fosters are required to spend time with their foster animals. Socialization is just as crucial to their well-being as food and medical care. Gradual integration with other household pets is encouraged for adaptability. It is helpful if fosters have their own vehicle for transport to any necessary veterinary appointments.
M2BL asks that fosters provide photos and some notes about the animal’s personality for promotion on our website and social media. A volunteer photographer can also be requested or recommended to help with photos.
Potential adopters are screened by Meant 2B Loved Pet Rescue. Upon approval, they are put in contact directly with fosters. Foster homes should be willing to accommodate potential adopters, as they are encouraged to meet the foster animal in the foster home.
“I would 100% recommend fostering/adopting, especially through Meant 2B Loved. They care so much about every animal they encounter and are very careful and mindful about placing the animals with the right families. The experience was so positive – she was delivered to us with everything that she could possibly need, all we had to do was love her which was the easiest part!”

Supplies & Care
M2BL provides all food, litter and essentials at no cost to the foster. Veterinary bills and any medical expenses are also covered by M2BL thanks to donations and fundraising initiatives.
Foster homes are encouraged to request food and litter supplies with at least 72 hours notice. Consistency in food supplies is aimed for to avoid gastrointestinal issues for the animals.
“We cannot say enough good things about M2BL. Anytime we have a concern regarding Sofie they immediately get her into the vet and ensure her health and well-being is at the forefront. We feel so lucky to have this lovely little lady in our home to live out her days. We went into this knowing her time with us could be short, and we are amazed that she has been with us for 2.5 years at this point and still going strong!”

Committment
Foster homes are crucial for the our work, however the time it takes for an animal to be adopted can vary greatly. Sometimes an animal will be adopted within a matter of weeks, and sometimes it takes several months. All the while, fosters have the full support of dedicated volunteers.
By opening your heart and your home to foster animals you are providing a safe space where they can grow and heal while waiting for their forever family. Fostering not only provides the opportunity to change the lives of animals, but also the lives of the lucky family who adopts them.
“I definitely recommend fostering. It’s a great way to see if a dog is a good match for you, your family, and other pets. Rescues animals can initially seem like more work, but with a bit of time and effort they’re the best!”
