TNR

Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR)
A significant and important part of the work Meant to Be Loved performs is TNRs (Trap, Neuter, Return). TNR is the most effective and humane way of controlling the feral cat population. As feral cats impact native wildlife through predation, competition, and spread of disease, controlling their numbers is very important.
Though we have been supported in our TNR work by the SPCA, who provided vouchers covering the costs for many of the spays and neuters in 2023, we are not guaranteed to have this level of help each year. Additionally, with the feral population there are often other medical bills for illness and injuries as well as the cost of care for the kittens rescued (85 at one property in 2023!!). Needless to say this is a pricey – but highly valuable endeavour. At this time, Meant 2B Loved is the only registered rescue in the area performing TNR work. With only a few volunteers on the TNR team, they can become overwhelmed and exhausted.
To be able to continue the volume of TNR work we are currently called upon to do, our TNR program needs your help.
