We fostered Callum in December 2021 as he was in desperate need of a home for Christmas. He had bounced between multiple foster homes with no one taking a chance on him. We weren’t sure if he would be a good fit, especially with his history of anxiety and reactive outbursts at other dogs.

But Callum has been pleasantly surprising us. From day one he has been bonded with our 8 year old lab Aussie. They share a bed, food, and play hard every day. They have never had a fight or issue. With training and trust, Callum walks well on a leash now and loves playing ball in the backyard.

Though it was originally thought that Callum would not be suitable for a home with children, our 3 year old son has also developed a deep bond with him. He cuddles with him, talks to him, and loves him deeply. Callum has always been so gentle, patient and protective with him. Our son calls him Cally and gives him a kiss every night before bed.

It is hard work and takes a lot of patience to adopt a dog. There were lots of reasons to hesitate to adopt a 3 year old reactive dog like Callum. But we gave him a chance and now Callum is so full of love. He just needed a family to love him. We would never take back our decision and could not imagine life without Callum.
