Meet Miss Understood Sheila – in search of that home that’s a one in a million.
But hey – miracles happen everyday.
Sheila has a story that is so alike many rescue dogs patiently waiting for their turn to step into the spotlight and find a human bestie of their very own.
You see – Sheila deals with something called “barrier frustration”. What’s this?
The best way to explain it –
Ever felt like you were going to go Hannibal-lector after a long day at work stuck in bumper to bumper traffic?
Ever been on an airplane a little too long and start to loose your ever loving mind feeling stuck in your seat?
Yeah – even the nicest of humans can turn into total jerks when they’re feeling stuck.
Sheila doesn’t like being stuck either.
Dogs with barrier frustration can look really scary when you’re on the other side of the barrier!
But, this behaviour is often gravely misunderstood and with the right guidance, can be managed successfully. Sheila just needs to feel free.
For this reason, Sheila has been patiently waiting in foster care and at her local doggy daycare as she’s been passed over time and time again while she dreams of someone to come and meet her who can see past her hardened exterior.
Shielas not the type that’s desperate to win you over when she first meets you. Especially when she first meets men. She has shown fear and weariness of men in foster. We’re not sure what happened to Sheila before she was rescued at 6 months old, but her fearful displays when a human approaches on lead tells us she’s had to stick up for herself in the past.
Despite her fears, Sheila has never said no to a good snack. And those snacks seem to help her feel a heck of a lot better when she’s first meeting someone. She’d love to taste test with you and figure out her very favourites.
Sheila once had a dog bestie in foster care who has since been adopted and she successfully attends doggy daycare but due to her struggles with feeling stuck, would love to have a home to her own. Doggy play dates and continued daycare parties – she’d hope would still be on her schedule with her new human. But she’s flexible!
Sheila shows high prey drive with small animals and cats so would thrive in a home where temptation isn’t always afoot! She did tell us she’d love to go chasing squirrels with her new human though 😉
Sheila doesn’t judge.
If you’ve got trust issues, so does Sheila. She’s in search of someone who’s ready to do the work to heal WITH her.
Some of Sheila’s buddies at daycare told her it’ll be so hard to find someone who’s right for her. But Sheila hasn’t given up hope.
No one wants to feel stuck and right now – Sheila is praying for a Unicorn Miracle. Before Sheila’s head hits her pillow as she cozies up in her kennel each night, she dreams of someone pulling up to her facility ready to take a chance on healing.
Do you have a soft heart, know what it’s like to feel misunderstood and ready to dive into a bond like no other?
We’d love for you to meet Sheila.
