This handsome boy is a medium energy puppy that loves his people! For a Hound, he is very quiet (didn’t think that was possible, eh?) and only barks when he is first put in his kennel (puppy protest?!) or sees animals through the window. He does not currently walk well on a leash, even with a harness; he pulls hard and is easily distracted by smells, so he will require some patience and training to help him learn what is expected of him. A large, fenced yard would be ideal for Blake so he can explore outside on his own. Blake LOVES his squeaky toys and chew toys. He is very food motivated and his fosters are working on commands such as sit, stay, (lay) down, and off. He will also search out any food (garbage, counter food, etc.) and needs to be kenneled during meals or he may literally jump onto your lap or table (this may be a temporary necessity until he learns that regular meals are forthcoming and that he no longer has to fight his siblings for it). Blake would do well in a home with people who are home often.

This guy is a jumper so we would not recommend him in a home with small children as he would easily knock them over. He does like to play and would be good with older teen children.

He hasn’t been tested with cats; however, since he has a very high prey drive towards small animals, we wouldn’t recommend a home with cats. He hasn’t been tested with other dogs; however, he did grow up with 3 other large dogs in his previous home, so we believe a home with large dogs would be okay (we would not recommend him with small dogs due to his strong prey drive).

He is a puppy and so he has his playful moments. However, he also loves to just chill out and sleep on his human’s bed. House-training: he does know to go outside and is starting to alert his human when he needs to go out (does need to go out once during the night).

Blake was surrendered to us underweight so he is on a high calorie diet to help him gain some much-needed weight. His upcoming neuter surgery, 2nd shots and microchipping will be paid for M2BL.
